Help - Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V.

The German non-governmental relief organisation Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V. was founded in 1981 by members of Parliament of all parties represented in the German Parliament and other distinguished personalities from science and church.

With the slogan “Germans are helping Afghanistan” they raised funds for the 3 million Afghan refugees having fled to Pakistan. After the very first years of its existence, Help started to continuously expand its humanitarian work to other countries worldwide. Aid is given regardless of race, creed or nationality of the recipients and without adverse distinction of any kind.

Aid priorities are considered solely on the basis of need. The major focus of Help is emergency relief, disaster management and long-term development aid as well as projects of rehabilitation. Thereby Help never loses track of the overall policy: “help to self-help”. The persons concerned are empowered to improve their environment self-propelling.

Therefore Help is always cooperating with local partner organisations, because locals know their people, their culture and therefore the needs of the people better than any foreign expert. Working with refugees throughout the world is a particular responsibility of Help’s humanitarian work.

Help decided in 2010 to convert the existing systems to WINPACCS. Besides a seminar at their head office, seminars took place in selected partner countries. WINPACCS was put into production in 2011.

Help is playing a key role in the further development of WINPACCS to meet the needs of medium-sized aid organisations. For example, Help was a pilot customer in the rollout of the interface between WINPACCS and the financial accounting from DATEV.
