Yemen is one of the poorest countries in the Arab world and has been almost completely destroyed by civil war. The situation in Yemen is catastrophic and, according to UN reports, currently the world's largest humanitarian crisis. The plight of the population cannot be understated with 16.2 million people suffering from acute hunger. Many do not know where the next meal will come from or where to get clean drinking water. The outbreak of Covid-19 in early 2020, only served to exacerbate the situation.
Tearfund Germany has been working in Yemen since 1998 and continues to support the people there with aid today. Together with local partners who are highly familiar with the situation in the various project areas, it supports the Yemenis in relieving suffering and achieving sustainable improvements in their lives. The focus of Tearfund Germany’s work is on water, sanitation and hygiene, as well as health and hunger relief.
