Review WINPACCS® Symposium 2011

The WINPACCS® Symposium 2011 took place in the conference rooms of Rittal Arena in Wetzlar on 5 April 2011.

Symposium stirs excitement over new WINPACCS® online platform

This years WINPACCS® symposium, the valued event of mbi GmbH around the topic of IT systems for development cooperation, stirred big excitement with the presentation of WINPACCS® online, the new platform for the WINPACCS® system. The diverse functions of WINPACCS® online capture for the first time the main business processes of international aid organisations. Central tasks such as project financing, donor budgets and the management of projects and partners can be efficiently organised and administered.  

“Sharing Competence“ was the topic that brought together staff of 14 aid organisations among them GIZ, Welthungerhilfe, HELP and Caritas to find out about this new platform.
WINPACCS® online is the consequent expansion of the WINPACCS® suite that since many years supports the business processes of many international aid organisations, in the projects as well as in the offices.

The data exchange between WINPACCS® online and the WINPACCS® suite allows for a tight linkage, even under poor internet conditions; so it is e.g. possible to hand over budgets that were created in the head office directly to the on–site modules or have a locally generated period-end closing of the project accounting instantly available within WINPACCS® online for all staff at headquarters. Resulting from in-depth talks and feedback from users, the yard stick for developing WINPACCS® online were the requirements of the clients.

Next to presenting WINPACCS® online, the symposium featured diverse workshops and seminars to discuss opportunities in development cooperation and learn about latest development within WINPACCS®. Open live presentations introduced directly and vividly many of the innovations. The workshops were held by experienced professionals and executives of development cooperation, as well as by staff of mbi GmbH.

Following the event’s motto „Sharing Competence“, sufficient space was also given for sharing and networking. The expectations in awaiting the first release of the WINPACCS® online platform in June 2011 by the participants were obvious. Further releases with expanded functionality are scheduled for September 2011and December 2011.

The WINPACCS® symposium was certainly a great event. Packed with new experiences, ideas and contacts the participants headed home. For most of them it was clear that they will certainly attend in the next year.
