EIRENE - International Christian Service for Peace

EIRENE was founded in 1957 by Christians from several denominations as an international peace and development service. It is approved by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as one of the six volunteer aid organizations in Germany. Apart from financial support of around 30 projects, EIRENE currently has 25 professionals work in Nicaragua, Bolivia, Bosnia, Niger, Chad, Mali and South Africa. In addition, annually around 80 to 100 young and adult volunteers are engaged in social and environmental projects in the US, Canada, France, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Romania, Nicaragua, Brazil, Bolivia, Chad and Niger.
